Fiscal Responsibility & Retirement Security

For the past 20 years, Bridget’s multiple leadership roles in the non-profit, government and corporate sectors have given her a unique perspective when it comes to the county’s annual $4 billion budget and forming long-term strategies to ensure economic security.

One of her first acts as commissioner was to create the Cook County Board’s first Pension Committee. As chairman, Bridget led the charge to find a pension reform solution that was fair to both taxpayers and workers.

To keep the public engaged, Bridget launched the Open Pensions website where press, public and Cook County employees could view details on reform proposals. The result was a working group of labor and government officials who drafted one of state’s first collaborative pension reform bills.
